A slice of venice
I had the absolute pleasure of being able to attend a photo walk of Venice Beach with documentary photographer Dotan Saguy, the creator of the photo book “Venice Beach.” Dotan was an incredible guide, showing us all of the coolest spots at the perfect hours, and introducing us to the many friends he’s made over the course of his time shooting the rich culture thriving on this boardwalk. We got to take our own stab at photographing the area, and these are the killer moments I captured. There was no shortage of action to shoot, and after a whole day I still wanted to go back and capture some more. 🌴🛹✨
We started the tour at the famous Venice sign, and then we got swanky bird scooters to fly around on and it was a blast. He showed us muscle beach, the skate park, the basketball and wall ball courts, the drum circle, and a bunch of cool street shows in between. Tourism is super heavy here, so it’s easy to be wrangled in to being a street show target. I was pulled into participating myself and it was hysterical. But just a quick tip, never lose sight of your gear or belongings in tourist heavy areas because you are such an easy target when you walk around with a big camera. No good. At the end of the day, I 10/10 recommend, it might just be my favorite beach in the LA area.
thanks for hangin’.
