Being Present

November & December of 2017 for me was such a well needed step back from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I'm so glad I was able to take this time for myself because I found it so incredibly beneficial to my well being. I finally got a slow down in my work life, which is so rare for me that I almost felt panicked to have free time. I was able to slow down and recuperate my life a little bit.

November first I sought out to eat clean for a month straight with only one cheat meal a week. With the help of my best friends and my sister it was so much easier than I ever anticipated it to be! I lost 4% of my body fat and felt so much better physically and mentally. I felt more alive after this and felt more in tune with my body. During the 3 weeks of December when we had guests after guests coming to our home I did eat whatever I wanted, but in good measure. It gave me the perfect foundation to start my January off right.

In December, I barely picked up my camera. I spent more time being present with my friends and family. Laughing and enjoying every moment rather than trying to capture every moment. I didn't realize how much I needed this. I made so many incredible memories even without photographing them. I forget that is possible sometimes as a photographer. My family also decided not to do gifts for the first time this year around for xmas, and instead, we gave each other our full presence than presents. I realized that I missed the giving aspect much more than I did the receiving of gifts. It inspired me to really put effort into giving more, whether that be to my friends, boyfriend, family or even strangers. Giving always makes me feel good, and I should do it way more than I currently do.

Lastly, my oldest sister finally got engaged!! This is something I am so so so thrilled about. I'm so happy for Aspen & Damien, they both deserve so much love and I'm excited to watch them start a family together. <3 The engagement happened at a ski resort called Northstar on Aspen's birthday, and it was such a beautiful evening. Actually, it was one of the classiest evenings of my life. We got to eat steaks at the Ritz Carlton and it was incredible.

So there's my holiday season catchup. Here are some moments from the day of A&D's engagement. Enjoy. 💜
